Psychological health is just as important as physical health for all first responders. Both types of health are connected to each other and determine a persons overall well being.
Psychological depression is part of all our lives. Clinical Depression is a medical condition, like high blood pressure if not treated, it can kill you.
Dr. Burton Clark hosts a panel discussion on this topic with Dr. Mike Beasely, Psychologist for Montgomery County, MD, Fire Rescue Department; Retired Chief Mike Chiaramonte, Lynbrook, NY; Lt. Great message and critical for everyone to listen to and understand. Depression is a serious issue that should not over looked simply because we work in a dangerous supposedly macho field. Take care of yourself before you can take care of others.
