The Apparatus Architects: Managing the Syracuse Fire Department Fleet

On this segment of the Apparatus Architects, hosts Tom Shand and Michael Wilbur talk with Capt. Dave Ogden of the Syracuse, NY, Fire Department. The veteran firefighter is now supervising the department’s shops.

The Syracuse Fire Department has been known to have innovative apparatus during it’s history and they currently operate two piece engine companies. Hear why each engine is equipped with a 50 or 55-foot water tower. Meanwhile, the mini pumper fleet has changed several times. Capt. Ogden fills us in on the current design and response policies.
