The Leader's Toolbox: Why Train with Mutual Aid?

A new fire chief in a combination department is looking to increase the level of training with his automatic mutual aid companies. He hits a roadblock from the other chiefs who don’t really feel there’s a need for the extra training. While they do respond together several times a week, is there really a need for cross-training?

Chief Gasaway also responds to the pleas of an assistant chief who will be taking over as chief of a volunteer fire department. The soon-to-be chief is struggling to increase the number of members responding to calls. His ideas include additional incentive plans, duty crews and extra credit. Tune in to find out why this chief is being urged to proceed with extreme caution.
